Timed food handler mock exam, on our practice clock

A timed practice round for the food handler exam. The clock and the number of questions are ours, every topic is mixed in, and the notes stay hidden until you hit Finish. Then you get a score for each topic and every question flips over to its notes.

Set up before you start

  • A stretch of time with nobody calling you back to the line
  • The practice set done first, so this run measures what you know
  • Phone on silent, other tabs closed
  • No flashcards or notes open, so the score means something
  • A plan for the hard ones: flag it, move on, come back if time is left

The mock

Read the brief, then start the clock. The table in the brief shows how the questions split across the eight topics.

Each question is a chit, an order ticket. Pick your answers; when you finish, every chit flips to show why each option is right or wrong.

Before the clock starts

  • 40 questions, 40 minutes. That is about 60 seconds a question. The count and the clock are our practice format, not the PFH's.
  • Pick an answer and move on. You can change it until you finish.
  • Flag anything you want to look at again. The notes stay hidden until you score.
  • When the clock runs out, the mock scores itself.

Reading your score

The total shows where you stand against 70%. The topic rows show what to do next. Any topic under 70% goes back on your list: read its page, then drill it on the practice test with that topic's chip on.

Look at your flags too, even the ones you got right. A right answer you flagged was a guess, and a guess is a coin toss on test day.

Short on two or three topics? The study plan spreads them over a few days, then sends you back here.

When to run it

Mock first or last?

Last. It's a check, and run cold it only tells you that you haven't studied yet.

Can you take it again?

Reload the page and it starts over. The questions stay the same, so a second run straight away mostly tests memory. Give it a day and drill your weak topics in between.
